#Smith and wesson model 10 m&p professional#
The reason for the round butt conversion is… When you add a set of Pacymayr Compaq Professional grips (the one’s with the open backstrap) to a round butt K frame S&W, you’ll find it fits a woman’s hand EXCEPTIONALLY well. When you’re done, it will be a decent looking finish, and Duracoat is a pretty tough finish once it is fully set.Īny-whoooo…. Lauer sells a rattle can Duracoat finish that’s fairly cheap (relatively speaking), and pretty darned easy. A quick & easy way to round-butt it is to get a set of round butt magna grips, take the back of the grip frame to a grinder (or bandsaw, then grinder) and follow the shape of the round butt grips. Since it doesn’t have the original finish, do what you want with it. If this is for the wife, I would do a round butt conversion on it first thing. It was an easy fix.just change it from rightsy-tightsy, to lefty-tightsy and that little annoyance never reared it's head again. Eventually it would un-screw enough to bind the action, and lock the cylinder in the closed position. One of the more common problems (but still rare to actually have happen to you), was the extractor rod loosening, and then with each pull of the trigger, it un-screwed the extractor rod a little more. The -3 means they changed the threading on the extractor rod from right hand to left hand.

Plus P is no problem at all for an all steel K-Frame.Īs to your specific questions, Bob (RJM) nailed it spot on.Īs for the -3 thing. I suggest some of the hot stuff from Buffalo Bore. Great choice for a home defense gun, given it's simplicity of operation.
Value is great at that price, if it's mechanically correct. The grip shows wear on the bottom but the grip may well get replaced. In any case, the finish is not original but appears to be evenly applied and is in very good shape. Not at all sure if it is just paint or something else. The finish – and the reason I think it was so cheap, is a black coating of some sort. The revolver seems to be very tight in general with a solid lockup when cocked. This one seemed to fill the bill at $249 and change. 38 for some time for use by my wife as a house gun. I had been looking for an inexpensive S&W.
The current finish will keep it from rusting so I’m not sure there is any point other than final looks. Not sure if there is enough value in the revolver to have it refinished, nor have I investigated the cost of such. The finish – and the reason I think it was so cheap - is a black coating of some sort.
Particularly interested in opinions of the Model 10 (and -3 model in particular). I stopped by Cabela’s this morning on my way to the airport and put it on lay-away since I was going to be flying and my car was going to be at a parking lot.
